cupt software package provides alternative front-end for dpkg -- console interface, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install cupt
cupt is installed in your system.
Make ensure the cupt package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep cupt *
You will get with cupt package name, version, architecture and description in a table
